You are not alone.

Hi, I’m Elizabeth!  I’m a licensed psychotherapist certified in working with sexual addiction.  I strive to be a champion of hope and your companion through the deep, dark places of your story.  I help people who have been devastated by the impact of compulsive sexual behaviors or relationships on their own lives or the lives of their spouses.  You may feel buried under the weight of shame and secrecy.  I get it: the feeling of powerlessness, feeling enslaved to the relationship or the behaviors, the mood swings, the hopelessness, the constantly trying to find a way out and failing over and over again. I want to empower you to know you are not alone, you don’t have to live under the thumb of addictive patterns, and you can experience freedom from the burden of shame and the experience of sex and love addiction that rules your life.

Why do I do what I do?

I believe that the threads of your story knit together to influence your life in ways that are deeper than you know.

I believe that the biggest hurdle you face is impatience and placing pressure on yourself to be better right here and right now.

I believe that practicing acceptance, patience, grace, and self-love are the keys to experiencing healing.

I believe that kindness is infinitely more impactful than judgment or shaming.

I believe that Jesus is the Ultimate Healer in your life.  Any healing or kindness that I offer is a direct result of my relationship with God and the Holy Spirit within me.

I also believe that while spirituality is an important component of recovery, doubt or anger toward God are a normal part of life.

I know from working with female sex and love addicts for nine years that you are not alone, there is hope for you to experience freedom, and you are a beautiful child of God.

I believe that confident women empowered in their self-worth and sexuality will change the world.

How will you feel in my office?

My clients know that they can be completely authentic and honest, bringing their true selves into the room without being judged or shamed.  Instead, they are accepted and loved wherever they are.

My clients feel deeply understood and safe to share the darkest and most painful moments of their stories.  I offer a warm, comforting space where clients gradually begin to feel at home and safe to trust.  They know that I am for them and by their side.

My clients know that real, lasting change and impactful healing happen in community with other people.  That’s why I encourage clients to get involved in my therapy groups, church support groups, or 12 Step programs in the area.  Clients often start by connecting with me one-on-one and growing deeper relationships as they learn it is safe to be themselves.

My clients and I love to laugh and experience joy.  I love celebrating with clients when they see victory and change in their lives and delighting with them as we begin to dig into greater self-love and self-compassion.

My clients see that their imperfections are often the most beautiful aspects of who they are.  I am not perfect.  You are not perfect.  And the sooner we can realize that in our lives, the sooner we’re able to practice solid self-love and compassion for ourselves and others.

The Credentials

If you’re interested in learning more about my academic and training background, this section is for you!

I currently hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Moody Graduate School in Michigan, and I’m a limited license psychologist (LLP) in the state. Limited License Psychologists are required to be supervised by a fully licensed, PhD psychologist.  I am supervised by Dr. Bernie Raudszus (license ID: 6301012503).

My education at a Christian institution taught me how to integrate Christian principles into psychotherapy if they are so desired.

I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), which means I’ve trained under Dr. Patrick Carnes and other leading sex addiction researchers and clinicians.  I’ve also done training with Mark and Debbie Laaser to help approach sex and love addiction from a Christian perspective.

I’ve completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  John Gottman has done immense amounts of research on healthy marriages and couples and has integrated that into a treatment model I use to help couples find tools to connect and deepen intimacy.
